Event Description
Learn about the incredible life of Madam C.J. Walker, born Sarah Breedlove in 19th-century rural Louisiana to former slaves.
She became the first African-American self-made millionaire by creating a line of beauty care products for Black women.
Walker built a factory, hair salon, mail-order business, and a beauty school that trained 20,000 sales agents.
Her contributions extended beyond business; she was a philanthropist and active organizer of the NAACP's Silent Protest Parade in 1917.
