Event Description
Special Olympics New Jersey will be offering the following Healthy Athletes disciplines alongside Summer Games:
- Baseline Concussion Assessment - a pre-injury assessment that establishes an athlete's normal cognitive functioning and physical capabilities
- Fit Feet - offers screenings to evaluate ankles, feet, lower extremity biomechanics, and proper shoe and sock gear to participating athletes
- FUNfitness - receive a total body fitness evaluation and educational materials from fitness experts to improve flexibility, strength and balance
- Healthy Hearing - free hearing screenings designed to ensure proper audiology care and improve their communication skills, social interactions and quality of life
- Health Promotions - improves the quality of life and long-term health of Special Olympics athletes by promoting healthy behaviors, screenings and medical referrals.
- Opening Eyes - provide quality eye care for people with intellectual disabilities (will close at 3:00 PM)
- Strong Minds - an interactive learning activity focused on developing adaptive coping skills.
- Special Smiles - provides the gateway to not only good oral health but to overall better health through screening, education and other treatment options.
Please note space is limited and It is not guaranteed that all athletes will be accommodated. Spots are available on a first come, first serve basis.
All registered SONJ athletes are welcome to attend Healthy Athletes, even if you are not competing the weekend of Summer Games.
No pre-registration is required.
