Event Description

In partnership with the South Orange Maplewood District (SOMSD) elementary schools, Maplewood Library is pleased to present a reception and display of artwork and poetry by children about Black history, identity, equality, justice, and being a human being.

The community is invited to hear kids talk about their work and read it aloud. Snacks will be provided.

The display will be viewable at Hilton Branch Library through the end of February

Black History Month

Black History Month is an annual observance in February that celebrates the achievements and contributions of African Americans to American history, culture, and society. Established in 1926 by historian Carter G. Woodson; Black History Month reflects on the struggles, highlights the triumphs, and provides inspiration to future generations.
